The Adams County Business Education Partnership is offering an Educator in the Workplace Summer Workshop. This is an opportunity for teachers to connect with a business or career area that is related to the teacher's area of instruction. Through this program, teachers can deepen their subject area knowledge through experience-based learning, and develop applications for use in the classroom. Working directly with employers can help educators observe and develop workplace readiness skills that they can then incorporate into their curriculum. With their experience in a particular career area, teachers can help advise students about the skills and knowledge necessary in that career. In addition to industry or career related knowledge, teachers are able to observe general workplace competencies and incorporate them into classroom instruction.
The Educator-In-The-Workplace program is a tremendous opportunity to bring together work-based and school-based learning, resulting in curriculum enhancement, improvement in classroom teaching strategies, and teacher professional development. Teachers, businesses, and students all win in this scenario. The teachers bring their academic knowledge into the workplace, businesses expose teachers to the world of their industry, and students receive the benefit of this knowledge directly from the teachers in the classroom.
Registration for the Summer, 2010 workshop is now open. Please click below for information about the course and to download the application.
